About the BLIA The Boone Lake Improvement Association (BLIA), which is no longer active, was a members only association founded in 1944. It was created toimprove Boone Lake, known at that time as Boone Lake Shores and residents of Boone Lake were encouraged to join. The initial registration fee was $18 and yearly dues were $7. Other funds were raised through donation and through fundraising/functions. Funds collected were used for the management of Boone Lake community properties, and for member activities. For decades, every spring, summer and fall, the clubhouse was the place to be. The annual Halloween party, weekly bingo nights and community suppers would get members on both sides of the lake together for a good time. The BLIA also worked diligently to manage neighborhood disputes and corresponded with the town of Exeter regarding matters that impacted the Boone Lake Community.
The increasing financial burden of managing the Boone Lake community properties prompted the creation of the Boone Lake Dam Management District in 2007.
