Boone Lake Dam Management District The Boone Lake Dam Management District is a separate tax district that exists within the town of Exeter that was created after a catastrophic dam failure and the Boone Lake residents' inability to manage the cost of the repair. At the request of a number of Boone Lake residents, the Exeter Town Council approved the creation of the BLDMD in 2007 and appointed the initial members of the Board of Directors. The first official meeting was held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
Object The object of the BLDMD is to apportion among and collect from the owners of property on Boone Lake, the costs of maintaining and repairing the Boone Lake community properties, and to pay the costs of maintenance, utilities, and taxes for those properties. This means that Boone Lake residents pay town taxes, fire district taxes and BLDMD taxes.
Members and Meetings All residents of Boone Lake are automatically BLDMD members. The Board of Directors (BOD) are Boone Lake residents who are elected every 2 years and are unpaid volunteers. There are 4 quarterly meetings and all members are encouraged to attend. Each parcel of land accounts for one vote.
